It's the Final Countdown!

Well, we're now in the final days pre-publishing during which I can still just list mother, wife and nurse as my jobs.. As of Monday I'll have to add Author.. Only 6 days to go and I'm really really excited now!
Sadly, my back does not seem to be infected with my vivacious enthusiasm and instead seems to be playing a game of where is it that I don't hurt today..
I'm fairly sure that even if your back wasn't as totally screwed up as mine is, that the amount of time I'm now spent hunched over either the computer, my iPhone, my iPad or any other electronic device would be the ruin of nearly all..
I have found a lady with magic hands though and she's agreed to see me on new years eve.. here's hoping I can start the new year with a nice new back..
On another good note.. The Hobbit comes out on Saturday.. I think I'll have to wait until the new year to see it but the ads look good.
Alas I have 4 more chapters to final edit so I must plough on but in 6 short days... whoop whoooop Amber will arrive!

Twitter, Pages and People

I have been frantically working to forge connections to help with the promotion of the book. With only 9 days to go I still have 6 chapters left to edit but am overall very very proud and pleased with my debut novel. Amber is almost ready to meet the public and I'm so excited!
Today I reached 203 twitter followers @ElizaBHart and 66 page likes for my facebook page www.facebook.com/ElizaBHart so I'm pleased with how much I've managed to promote the book before it's release! So many people have been taking to others about it and I'm so humbled by the reaction it's getting.
Thank you to everyone who has liked or followed and thank you all who are reading this!
Not much longer to wait.
A small plea from me, if you buy and read 'Amber's Destiny' please return to Amazon and review it!
I'll post the link to the kindle store as soon as it's live for purchase!
Thank you all again!
Your patience will be rewarded!

Only 15 days to go!

I think therefore I panic! I had really better get a shuffle on. I'm so excited and also totally scared at the same time! I've worked so hard on this and now, in under 3 weeks I will open it up to the whole world, and that includes criticism as well as praise! Terrifying! I can't wait to see it on the kindle store but I'm also a little nervous for my first review!
Today is Christmas tree decorating day so I'm going to enjoy my day of quiet and do some more last minute tweaking this evening.
A big thank you to everyone who is supporting this and to those of you reading from Germany and the US, thanks for reading! So cool to see interest from other countries! Thank you, thank you!

15 days to wait!
It's nearly over.

Edit Phase 2 almost complete.

Hello All,
I spent the day ploughing on with phase 2 of the edit. I only have 3 more chapters to do and then it will be time for the final read through! I may be slightly losing the plot due to the emotions running crazy. I swear in the last 24 hours I have gone from excited to scared to nervous to bouncing of the walls at least 8 times. So, I'm not sleeping, hmm... I wonder why?
So this evening I am going to do the ironing (exciting!), washing up (thrilling!) and watch Grimm. Thankfully my lovely hubby suggested take away so I didn't have to cook too!
26 days to launch!

Promotion

Hello all,
Today I have been working very hard to start the promotion ball rolling. With only about 4 weeks to go until publication I have started up a Facebook page and twitter for both myself and for Amber.
Click on the links on the home page to follow on twitter and search for Eliza B Hart and Amber Raine on Facebook to like the page and find out more about myself and the main characters.

Amber has the following picture for both her twitter and Facebook pages, what do you think?

So good to see so much interest in the sites and my blog.

Thank you all, your support and encouragement is so amazing.

Unexpected delays and exciting encouragement.

Hello readers!
It appears in my crazy business of completing my PGCE, working like a looney and school holidays I have greatly neglected my blog. Needless to say my apologies are heartfelt and I solemnly swear to do better!
The news thus far is that the book, now complete, is in it's editing stage now. I have around 2 chapters left to do then one last check through and we're set for publication!
Estimated publishing date (EPD) = 7th - 14th December so watch his space for a link to the amazon kindle bookstore!
On another note, I had a very encouraging session telling 9&10 year olds at Sydney's school about the book. They were more enthusiastic and excited about Amber's Destiny than I could have dreamt! I should get them to review the book because everyone will want to buy it then!
To have even a small morsel of recognition and praise after nearly 5 years of hard work brought a warm and tingly feeling to my heart.
I hope with all sincerity that all who read the book will enjoy it, but just to know people are reading something I wrote will be so rewarding.
So, to those of you who have been waiting, be it weeks, months or years, I assure you that the wait is almost over.
Thank you all for encouraging me.

Keep checking back as a countdown will be posted as soon as I have a publishing date!

Closure

After 4 years it's done. Well, OK it's not completely done.. the book is written but it's in need of some proof reading and editing. But it's done in essence. I have a very odd feeling of hunger, nausea, pain (my back from sitting at the computer), exhaustion (I haven't really had a lay in in 2 weeks) and general oddness. If I'd written this about 2 and a half hours ago I'd have said something completely different. Mainly because I was shaking with excitement as I hurtled toward the last words I've known would be the finale to my book for a considerable time. I think that when I first see the book for sale on Kindle I will probably have the same excited reaction.
We'll see, but for now, I'm slightly marveling in the fact that I've written a book and completely obsessing over the next 5..
Watch this space..

The Future

I finished Chapter 20 today.

I only have one more chapter to write and then the book will be done. I'm am so tired from working the weekend and I don't know if what I've just written is a pile of rubbish but I had to keep stopping to prevent myself from becoming too overwhelmed and crying all over my keyboard.

Chapter 20 is not the hardest chapter I've had to write because some stumped me for weeks, even months on end but this one was the one that nearly tipped me over the edge emotionally. I knew what it would involve and I'm proud to say that I didn't get as upset writing it as I had thought I would but nevertheless it's a heavy chapter. Pivotal to the plot but heavy.

I couldn't even finish my Lucious Lemon Muffin or my cup of tea. Now that must have been hard work!

See the evidence below the Jump.

Derbyshire

Ok, so I'm in Derbyshire staying in a room full of photos of Pierce Brosnan (?? Nope I don't get it either.) and I've just sat in the bar for an hour to finish chapter 19. Quid Pro quo only 2 chapters left to write! Anyway, this very drunk man just asked what I was doing, so I told him. Then I told him again, then I told him for a third time all the while my scentence being only half written. In the end, he went away probably having established that even if he could remember the name of the book in the morning, it was probably far too long for him to read. I came to the inevitable conclusion that alcohol turns people into children. I will not accept repeatedly telling my daughter the same thing so why should have to do it to someone I don't even know! Still, maybe if he does remember the conversation he may actually buy the book and enjoy it. Sadly I doubt it. Who gets that drunk on a work night? Ah well, into every life must fall inebriated muppets. Glad I could just walk away. Good night!

Beach Bars

I have managed to write most of Chapter 19 today. I will try to write the rest while I sit in my Hotel this evening twiddling my thumbs. However, I wrote a bit involving a rather tranquil sounding beach bar in Hawaii and I had to find a picture to demonstrate the vision in my head.
Partly it's just because I want to be at a bar in Hawaii sipping Mohito's rather than driving to derbyshire. I actually don't know what a Mohito is but I want one anyway. Also, I want a big steak and chips but I don't think that's as important.
Anyway, I thought I would share my picture with you as it might help you all have a little imaginary Mohito with me.

Books

I had the realisation today that I've almost written a book. A whole book. For someone who was told unequivocally by a certain English teacher who will remain forever nameless (mainly because he left such an impression I can't actually remember it!) that women cannot write.. Jane Austen? The Bronte's? J.K.Rowling? etc etc.. the list goes on... I was fairly sure that even attempting to write a short story was a fruitless endeavour. Ha! I say Mr what's your face.. I do believe that I have the ability to put words on a page in a not only coherent but also vaguely interesting manner.. Does that not qualify as writing??

There seems to be some inherent belief in society, that to make a book good, it needs to be almost impossible to understand without comprehensive understanding of the history of the English Language but also a degree in history, mythology and astrophysics.. not that I think a degree in astrophysics is a bad thing but books should surely be an avenue for all to use to escape the hum drum of everyday life and delve into another world. Does that not mean then, that in essence, all who can read should be able to enjoy a good book?

Leave me to my ranting.. my brain has been overworked today and apparently that makes me grumpy.. or possibly right... I think the latter.. :-)
More tomorrow when the next chapter will be hopefully done.

Amber

Following the footsteps of relatives both current and late I have spent the last four years working on a book. One that in all honesty I didn't think I'd have the stamina to see through but, no matter how long a break I took from writing it I kept being drawn back in. I would find myself dreaming of things to put in it or I would have my husband asking how it was going. Needless to say I didn't give up and as the book progressed so did the overall idea and we are now at the stage where I am close to finishing the first book.

The book is entitled 'Amber's Destiny' and it tells the tale of Amber Raine a girl whose loss of memory is far more significant than she would believe and whose true nature and purpose are far from being revealed. The picture below is the cover for the book I have designed to use.

I decided when I thought of the idea that it would work over several books but I didn't expect to be able to come up with a plot that would stretch two let alone the six it now arcs over.
If you think Amber's Destiny will answer all her questions then unfortunately you're wrong. She is destined to wait a while to understand everything that happens to her and what it will mean for her future and her life.

The plan is to finish the book by Summer 2012 and it will be available on Kindle to buy. My hope is that people will buy it because I think it's a book worth reading. I also think it's pretty good, but I am biased.
:-)

More news will come as I get closer to the end. See the links on the side to follow me on Twitter and to subscribe via e-mail.

Thanks for reading.
