Derbyshire

Ok, so I'm in Derbyshire staying in a room full of photos of Pierce Brosnan (?? Nope I don't get it either.) and I've just sat in the bar for an hour to finish chapter 19. Quid Pro quo only 2 chapters left to write! Anyway, this very drunk man just asked what I was doing, so I told him. Then I told him again, then I told him for a third time all the while my scentence being only half written. In the end, he went away probably having established that even if he could remember the name of the book in the morning, it was probably far too long for him to read. I came to the inevitable conclusion that alcohol turns people into children. I will not accept repeatedly telling my daughter the same thing so why should have to do it to someone I don't even know! Still, maybe if he does remember the conversation he may actually buy the book and enjoy it. Sadly I doubt it. Who gets that drunk on a work night? Ah well, into every life must fall inebriated muppets. Glad I could just walk away. Good night!

Beach Bars

I have managed to write most of Chapter 19 today. I will try to write the rest while I sit in my Hotel this evening twiddling my thumbs. However, I wrote a bit involving a rather tranquil sounding beach bar in Hawaii and I had to find a picture to demonstrate the vision in my head.
Partly it's just because I want to be at a bar in Hawaii sipping Mohito's rather than driving to derbyshire. I actually don't know what a Mohito is but I want one anyway. Also, I want a big steak and chips but I don't think that's as important.
Anyway, I thought I would share my picture with you as it might help you all have a little imaginary Mohito with me.

Books

I had the realisation today that I've almost written a book. A whole book. For someone who was told unequivocally by a certain English teacher who will remain forever nameless (mainly because he left such an impression I can't actually remember it!) that women cannot write.. Jane Austen? The Bronte's? J.K.Rowling? etc etc.. the list goes on... I was fairly sure that even attempting to write a short story was a fruitless endeavour. Ha! I say Mr what's your face.. I do believe that I have the ability to put words on a page in a not only coherent but also vaguely interesting manner.. Does that not qualify as writing??

There seems to be some inherent belief in society, that to make a book good, it needs to be almost impossible to understand without comprehensive understanding of the history of the English Language but also a degree in history, mythology and astrophysics.. not that I think a degree in astrophysics is a bad thing but books should surely be an avenue for all to use to escape the hum drum of everyday life and delve into another world. Does that not mean then, that in essence, all who can read should be able to enjoy a good book?

Leave me to my ranting.. my brain has been overworked today and apparently that makes me grumpy.. or possibly right... I think the latter.. :-)
More tomorrow when the next chapter will be hopefully done.

Amber

Following the footsteps of relatives both current and late I have spent the last four years working on a book. One that in all honesty I didn't think I'd have the stamina to see through but, no matter how long a break I took from writing it I kept being drawn back in. I would find myself dreaming of things to put in it or I would have my husband asking how it was going. Needless to say I didn't give up and as the book progressed so did the overall idea and we are now at the stage where I am close to finishing the first book.

The book is entitled 'Amber's Destiny' and it tells the tale of Amber Raine a girl whose loss of memory is far more significant than she would believe and whose true nature and purpose are far from being revealed. The picture below is the cover for the book I have designed to use.

I decided when I thought of the idea that it would work over several books but I didn't expect to be able to come up with a plot that would stretch two let alone the six it now arcs over.
If you think Amber's Destiny will answer all her questions then unfortunately you're wrong. She is destined to wait a while to understand everything that happens to her and what it will mean for her future and her life.

The plan is to finish the book by Summer 2012 and it will be available on Kindle to buy. My hope is that people will buy it because I think it's a book worth reading. I also think it's pretty good, but I am biased.
:-)

More news will come as I get closer to the end. See the links on the side to follow me on Twitter and to subscribe via e-mail.

Thanks for reading.
